Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Experience & Treat!

Hello everyone! I am back with a super exciting post today, which has been in the works for a long while now. I was offered the opportunity to try an exciting teeth whitening kit * at the end of last year, and since I had seen a YouTuber I watch now and again review it, I quickly agreed. My teeth were never SUPER yellow, but I am an avid latte drinker and so they can get pretty stained and not as bright as I would like at times. I have previously tried the teeth whitening strips, but the results were very uneven because my teeth aren't perfectly straight, so that was kind of a big fail! Getting back to the brand I'm reviewing today - Smile Brilliant. I had seen the impressive results from that review, so I was super excited to try it out myself - and to cut straight to the chase, it is definitely a system that delivers results!

This is probably one of the most thorough teeth whitening systems I have ever seen, and very professional too. This is because you literally have to send impressions of your teeth over to their lab, in order for them to create you trays which fit exactly to your teeth shape. This is also not one of those which uses a blue light.

As you can see, the box comes chocoblock full of things and you have enough whitening gel in here to last you for months and months. It is also very straight forwards to use, as they include an instruction guide for both creating the impression, as well as a guide for applying the gel. I didn't find any need to check their website, because all the information I could ever need was included in the box, which is so thorough and helpful.

The impressions process:
In the box you get sent 3 sets of impression material - which is the catalyst and the base paste. I really appreciated that they sent three and not just two, because I messed up the process the first time around! Having said that, the steps to create the impressions were made very clear, as you can see from the instructions booklet above, so I felt confident enough to create them without having to watch a video.

You mix up the catalyst and base paste and you'll know when it's all mixed up properly, because the putty will be a solid blue colour without any streaks. Then you carefully press the mixture into the tray, evenly distribute it and press your teeth into it. It really is as simple as that. You then pop both trays into the envelope and send it off to the labs. Within a few days they receive your trays, create your plastic impressions and send it back. Obviously because i'm in the U.K this process took at least 2.5-3 weeks, but to think it had been all the way to L.A and back was pretty cool!

The actual whitening process:
Believe it or not, this is also as simple as the whole impressions process - if not even simpler! You get a bunch of whitening gel tubs and desentitising gel tubes. These also come with their own informative leaflet explaining exactly how to use them, whitening best practices and any other extra information. Basically you open up a whitening gel, remove the breakaway cap and carefully squeeze a thin layer of gel to the front part of the trays. You have to ensure the trays are dry before you do this and also you need to dry your teeth as much as is humanly possible haha! Then you insert the tray over your teeth and keep it in for around 45 minutes for your first use. This time will gradually increase as you keep whitening your teeth, and honestly it is as simple as that! You keep them in and go about whatever you were doing - for me that's usually writing up a lesson plan. Then when you've kept them in for the desired time, you head over to the washroom, take them out and rinse them and then brush your teeth with toothpase. Then you repeat the same process of applying the gel, but this time make sure its the desensitising gel - which works soooo well! This gel you keep in for 20 minutes max and it really helps with getting your teeth used to the whitening process.

Pain?
I have not experienced any pain through using smile brilliant, however there was a point in time when my teeth felt extra sensitive. This was because I thought I could be super brave and keep them in for 2.5 hours, which was too much for me at the time. So I'd advise you to increase the time you keep the whitening gel on for gradually!

Results:
And the moment you've all been waiting for...does it work or naah? YES, yes it does work and I was so pleasantly surprised to see it worked from the first use. For best whitening results I recommend repeating the process 3/4 times a week, for a couple of weeks, and you will see such a great improvement in the stains and yellowness of your teeth. For the first time I felt confident smiling and showing my teeth after using this consistently for a month, because my smile was so bright! I've always disliked my teeth a little, but just knowing that they're whiter and brighter makes me feel a LOT better about them.

P.S I don't love having such a close up of my very imperfect teeth, but I hope you can see the results so far! I think with a few more consistent uses the staining at the top will be lifted even more and by May half term I shall have another update photo!

Pricing:
All the details are on their website, and it will differ depending on where you are in the world, so check it out here: https://www.smilebrilliant.com/product/teeth-whitening-trays
They also have different kits available, if you have heavy staining, if you have more sensitive teeth etc. Which I think is so inclusive and thorough again, which is another reason why I'm so behind this brand.

I think this is one of the best at home teeth whitening kits on the market, because you get enough gels to last you for ages. Seriously one tube of whitening gel lasted me 5X! Which is fantastic because I have lots left, and can look forwards to white teeth for a long time. I love how I can top up the whiteness at home without needing to pay anything extra, or going out to a dentist or clinic. It takes a lot of the hassle and expense out of having white teeth, and if you don't have thousands to splash on your smile, I highly recommend you get yourself a smile brilliant kit.

And now for the TREAT!
I am SUPER excited to tell you that they are kindly giving away a whitening kit for one of my lovely readers, yaaay! Click here for your chance to win a kit, you will need to enter your name and e-mail address, and the winner will be selected at random in exactly two weeks. Goodluck - this has to be the most exciting giveaway I've ever had the chance to run for my readers, and the fact that one of you gets to feel more confident about your smile makes me so happy. And very grateful to smilebrilliant! ❤️ AND if that wasn't enough, you can get 10% off your order using the code theblushinggiraffe. This is an affiliate code, which means I'll get a small amount of money, at no extra cost to yourself - of course you don't have to use it...but money off is always a good thing to me haha.

It's worth having a read of this article called 7 things to know before buying teeth whitening, as it goes into detail about more of the scientific side of things too.

This kit was sent to me, but I will be repurchasing the whitening syringes (which start at a really reasonable price) myself, because its a system that works and it's all done from the comfort of my home for a very reasonable price ☺️.

Have you tried at home teeth whitening before?

Review | Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits in Gleam, Sundipped and That Glow

Hello hello! Major apologies for being extra AWOL as of late, I've been on a two week trip to Pakistan, but more on that in another post. Welcome to a long awaited review which has been on my blogging to-do list for AGES and I'm kinda relieved I am finally sitting down to write it up! So I'm going to jump straight into it, although I will start by saying that I did not actually buy all three of these gorgeous glow kits and if you want to know how I managed to collect three of them then you can have a read of this post here. Anyways I'm NOT complaining because I love them, each and every one and before I getting into the details of it all - YES these three are totally worth the hype. I can't speak for the others, because I've not tried them (but I DID just treat myself to the Nicole kit cause, well I don't even need to explain myself there do I? Haha. These three are the first to come from ABH, and after sundipped they released moonbeam and sweets - both of which have a little less 'everyday' colours, for me personally but I've heard amazing things about them both! They then released 'ultimate glow', which has to be the only kit I heard bad reviews about, due to the pigmentation issues and high glitter content.

So starting with the basics that are consistent across the board - these all cost £39 each which might shock you a little, but bare in mind you get FOUR highlighters and they didn't scrimp on the size either! Each pan of highlighter holds 7.4g, so you're getting a whopping 29.6g of product for the near £40 price tag. Now if we compare that to another one of my favourite highlighters, the Laura Geller Gilded Honey which is £21 and you only get 4.5g of product!  They are all removable pans in these three glow kits (although there are a few glow kits, which don't have them).  These have magnetic bases, so when travelling its super easy to remove your favourites in a Z palette - or even create your own custom palette if you have two of them! So all in all I think its a very fair price, especially since you get way more than 4 options per palette. I will often mix and match the shades, sometimes using a glow close to my skintone all over the cheek bones, and then a lighter brighter shade with a smaller brush. The packaging itself is great too, sturdy cardboard, with a strong magnet in the lid too. I also really appreciate how they don't waste any space in the palette - is that not the most annoying thing, when they have double the amount of packaging you actually need?? 🙄

Gleam - £39

So if you read the above post, you will know that this is the palette I got for free (kinda) and one I had no intention of buying. It is also currently discontinued sadly, but I'm hoping that they randomly bring it back like they did with that glow. Upon first glance, you might think this palette is best for fair skin-tones, which is what I thought too. However Gleam is the actually the one I pick up joint most, for a day-to-day glow especially.

I think you'd love this if: you prefer a lowkey glow, you have ANY skin-tone (except perhaps very deep) and if you're looking for a highlighter kit that is suitable mainly for a subtle glow. Although with a damp brush, you can get a real strobbed look with all of the kits - little tip 🤗.

These powders are not super creamy in texture, which I like because it means you can really build them up on the skin, making them versatileThey're also not powdery either - again a big win, since when you tap your brush into the pan, lots of excess product isn't brought to the surface and subsequently wasted.  A win-win situation!

Going into each of these shades in detail:

Hard Candy: By far my least used shade from this quad, hard candy is a true pink highlighter and it works quite well as a blush topper! I find it most wearable when I mix it with the shade starburst and I find it easiest to use when I'm wearing a warmer shade of foundation as it blends in well. If you like a colourful highlight, you'll like hard candy!

Mimosa: MY FAVE! Look at how beautifully warm and golden it is! Mimosa is a shade that when applied with just one layer, looks perfectly fine for day to day, but when layered up I can achieve that stunning brighter look, as you can see in the swatch. It's also one of those stunning shades that on my olive skintone, is not an obvious swipe across my cheek. However as I turn my head it is more noticeable and I LOVE it. Especially when used with a damp brush. DAAAYUM.

Crushed Pearl: This is my second most used shade, and it is the lightest and brightest. I think the name is perfect, as it is almost like Anastasia literally crushed up some pearls and pressed it in the palette! I tent to pop this on the very top of my cheekbone for a super bright highlight, or I'll use it on a thicker fan brush very lightly so it is distributed in a softer way. I prefer this when I'm not tanned or wearing a warmer foundation because it is more on the cool toned side of things.

Starburst: I know I just said C.P is my second most used shade, but starburst is coming in at a close second! It is one of the most wearable cooler toned highlighters I own. It is a slightly diluted silver, when compared to crushed pearl, but it is still pretty stark against my olive skintone. However with a soft brush starburst works very well. I love that there is no glitter in any of these pans, and it applies onto the skin so perfectly, with a small tap going a long way. If you have a light skintone and choose to pick up this palette I'm sure this one will become your go-to!

Moving onto that glow, this is the kit I originally wanted and I can tell you it was certainly worth the wait! It's also the one I go to on a daily basis, since it contains very wearable shades for my olive skintone. Again the formula of all of these is the same as the gleam kit, with no glitter and a good balance between creamy and baked!

I think you'd love this if: you have any skintone, but you prefer your highlight to be on the warmer side of things, then you need this in your life. Also if you're looking for a kit that you can wear on a daily basis to work and basically nothing too out there - pick up that glow.

I won't repeat myself too much, because I've pretty much reviewed the whole concept of these above, but oh my goodness can we just take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous that glow is?? I will say though that the bottom two shades are VERY close and you'll see in the swatches below what I mean. I'm not complaining cause I use them a lot and its still such good value for money! However if similar shades irk you, or you're looking for a more unique palette, this one may not be the one for you.

Sunburst: By far the most yellow toned gold highlighter I own! It is very bright and in ya face, and because of this I haven't gotten the most use out of it. However, in this quad, this is like the OTT shade that you use when you want a really obvious glow. Or you could use this one, in a similar way to crushed pearl, as that real WOW pop.

Golden bronze: A shade that is stunning on deeper skin-tones, but for my olive skintone, its not the most highlighty shade. However it is workable and I've used it a couple of times over my bronzer with a lighter hand than I would when usually highlighting. I'm glad they included it in the quad, because I'm sure it looks gorgeous on so many deeper skintones!

Bubbly: A beautiful champagne-esque shade, which I use so often. It's perfect for everyday, can be used lightly or built up and theres not much more to say - a real winner.

Dripping in gold: Is very similar to bubbly, however it has a splash of gold as the name suggests, and again I ADORE this highlighter. Especially when I'm a little more on the tanned side, because it is just so stunning. I tend to apply this with a slightly damp brush and if I could purchase these highlight shades individually (which I do hope she eventually starts doing!), I'd have a couple of back ups of these 🙌🏽.

And finally the last glow kit I'll be reviewing today, I present to you sundipped! Also £40 with the exact same amount of product as the other four - which is such a good deal in my opinion (as long as you're a regular highlight wearer though haha.) This is probably my second most used glow kit thusfar, and it packs a little more of a punch in the pigmentation department. I thought I'd just show you the sleeve that they all come in though, because I am recycling these ASAP haha. They're good for when you travel, but I use these so much that it's just a little annoying step lol.

ABH glow kit in sundipped review and swatches

I think you'd love this if:
You have a medium-deep skintone, since these shades are definitely stronger than those of the first two kits. Also if you don't want too many golden shades, but you're still looking for a mostly warm toned highlighting palette, then sundipped is your best bet.

Before I get into each shade, I want to apologise for the lack of close up swatches for this kit, I have no idea why I didn't take one but anyway you can still clearly see the difference between each shade and I'll be reviewing them in order.

Bronzed: The deepest shade from the three kits, and as you may be able to guess one of my least used ones too. However it is perfection for anyone with deeper skin, and actually it looks pretty fantastic on top of bronzer, as look as you apply it gently because like I said - this kits' pigmentation is stepped up a notch! When I'm going for a really glowy look I whip out a bit of bronzed, and also it makes a gorgeous all over the lid shade too.

Summer: For some reason it has swatched pretty badly, but on the skin it looks much much better. Summer is naturally my go-to shade in this palette because its a lovely golden shade and I think it's been named perfectly. It does remind me of summer and it gives me a beautiful glow too!

Tourmaline: Is probably one of the more unusual shades in my highlighter collection, but I love it. Tourmaline is also very difficult to describe, I suppose it could be called a rusty bronze with a dash of cool tone to it?? I might just let the swatch do the talking here! But its a shade that would look lovely on deeper skintones, I personally like to mix it with moonstone to make it more wearable on my olive skintone, but it could work as more of a subtle highlight alone too.

Moonstone: The lightest shade of this quad, moonstone is a beautifully bright without actually being unwearable. I suppose this is the 'pop' shade of the quad, but again I could definitely wear it alone when used with a light hand. I also tend to use moonstone as a mixer shade, because it makes any darker colour more wearable.

And here are the three kits swatches side by side, with every single shade being different...even if some are very close! I hope this post helped you to figure out which one (two or three!) that you wanted, as you can see you don't really need all three but I do use all of them and love them all for their own reasons. I've been asked so many times, which one I would recommend, so if you are olive toned, then I'd have to say that glow, because it is soooo wearable. However if you have deeper skintone, sundipped is the one for you, the range of shades is excellent and they're all so blendable and easy to mix, you'll be set to glow!

ABH glow kit in sundipped, that glow and gleam review and swatches comparison

Without flash at the top and with at the bottom! I know there are quite a few newer kits out there now and the glow is currently sold out, but I'm sure it's in the process of being restocked, since its a best seller and this has happened before. Also these are three of the kits where you can actually remove the pans, and the fourth is 'sweets'. The newer kits aren't removeable which is kinda sad, so I hope she makes all of these shades available individually because there are quite a few of these shades that I absolutely LOVE, and although I'm in no danger of running out of highlight anytime soon, it would be cool to be able to get just those ones!

Once again I want to apologise for my really long blogging break, this is the busiest time of my year cause training has finished and I'm about to be meeting a tonne of deadlines and being observed A LOT, plus I'm teaching in year 6...so SATs D:

I hope you've all been well, for my fellow bloggers I cannot wait to catchup on your blogs eventually, and I promise I will soon 😅

Thank-you for reading ♥

Lush Easter Event & Haul!

Hello! Welcome to my annual Lush event post and I'm going to start by saying how much I adore these, they're such a highlight to my busy schedule and it's always a pleasure to meet up with my local lovely bloggers. This year they made it really cute and personal, giving us little pots of fresh flowers, with our blog name on a label and I was smitten! The pot is still in pride of place at my dressing table, and although the flowers have wilted slightly, it still looks so beautiful. This year Lush have brought back some old favourites (like a certain sparkly egg!), but they've also expanded their easter line too. I'm going to be sharing a bit of both and then what we got at the end. I will say though that if you're a blogger yourself and a fan of lush, make sure you get in contact with your local store! Most of them run events just for bloggers, its a free and fun way to find out more about their products, see them in action and meet like minded lush-lovin-ladies too 🤗

So starting with their display, they have a whole host of beautifully bright and fun new things. The larger items are actually their gift packs and they started off their event (after the circle of getting to know one another of course), with a quick tour of their mothers day range. I love how Lush always put together a range of prepacked gifts, thinking about price budgets for all too! Everyone deserves a lush treat now and again, but especially mums, who work tirelessly around their children.

For example the beautifully packaged flowery one called Rosie (£25.50) is an all rose themed gift set as the name suggests! You also get everything you need for a gorgeous pamper, from the tisty tosty bath bomb, rose jam shower gel, body conditioner, argan oil shampoo bath and the rose jam bubbleroon. Another one that caught my attention was the MUM gift set, because they have their new adorable giraffe all over it! I think I would buy this primarily for the wrapping paper, who doesn't want little Elsie in print haha. MUM costs £35.00 and as the packaging might give away, it is themed around holidays. So inside there is a coconut smelling scub and cream, the yummy mummy shower cream which has a rich and sweet smell, the coolest double sided bath bomb ever (more on this later!), a cute body butter in the shape of a bee (scrubee is the sweetest!) and a large bar of blackcurrant scented soap, that leaves the skin smelling great and feeling soft.

Talking of Scrubee (£6.95), heres a shot of one of us having a little demo of it. Now Scrubee is a body butter in the shape and design of a bee - super cute! However that is not it's only function, it also works amazingly well at exfoliating and moisturising the skin. It contains ground coconut shells aswell as ground almonds, which works so beautifully at leaving the skin feeling soft and supple. Scrubee contains shea butter, cocoa butter, honey, coconut oil and bergamot oil. It also smells divine! We were all big fans and I'm sad it's not going to be around after easter.

I have to say one of my favourite gifts is the Golden Egg, because it has the coolest packaging of all time! This is around £30 and you get 3 easter bath products, two new and one classic (the glittery golden one which I LOVE). You also get a chocolate scented soap too, so if you've had too much of the sugary stuff, getting scented soap is a much more sensible idea am I right?

Something they've brought back this year, with a slight difference is the bunch o carrots (£6.50), last year they were all orange and this year they're a mixture! Each colour has a different scent and the best thing is they're reusable, so you get a decent bang for your buck.

And here is a little bit of the purple carrot in action!

Which came first? Is pretty pricy, at just under £7 but it has the most gorgeous smell! To me it mainly smells of vanilla, but has a fresh scent too and I'm not surprised, since it contains grapefruit oil and Sicilian lemon oil.  If I picked this up, I'd definitely split into at least three pieces to get my moneys worth haha.

And
And of course one of their newest bath bombs, which has such a cute design is the chick'n'mix! It has a THREE pieces, so again its pretty good value for money. It contains bergamot oil and tonka absolute which makes it smell beautifully sweet. The chick's shell is in two pieces and in the middle there is an adorable little yellow chick inside! Which you can see below haha. Each piece of this has a different colour and I just think the idea is so innovative and diffferent, go lush team!

Above is a MUM bath bomb, which has a really cute little message once the bath bomb has dissolved. And on the left - JUST LOOK HOW CUTE THAT LIL CHICK BE!

I decided to pop a few photos together because honestly it's taken me a whole weekend to edit all these photos!!! Anyways the top photos are actually the SAME bath bomb! It's the ups-a-daisy bath bomb, which costs £3.50 and basically whatever way you turn it, dictates the colour the bath water turns. I thought that was pretty unique, the Lush team for this year really went all out! Smell wise its floral and sweet and more of a slow and relaxing fizer. Then bottom right we have the ADORABLE Elsie the giraffe (£6.95) and how could I THE BLUSHING GIRAFFE not fall in love with this cutie?! It's a lemony scent and reusable, I can't wait to try it out. And finally the slightly creepy thing in the bottom right hand corner is flopsy, which is basically a 'face wash jelly'. I wouldn't purchase it, but I can see why you might for your kids, it certainly makes bath time fun haha.

Now on to my own haul! Lets start with the things they gave us for free, thankyou Lush :) As you can see we have three samples of shower gels, the only one I've tried so far is the prince charming shower cream and OH MY GOODNESS I am smitten! Clearly I've been sleeping on the whole Lush shower cream range, or maybe it's just the most under rated thing they do - but you guys I am in LOVE. First of all its bright pink, secondly it leaves my skin super clean and soft and finally the SMELL!!! My skin smells divine for the rest of the day, honestly it's like bathing in expensive perfume, I am definitely going back to Lush and picking up a bottle. I think this is a valentines exclusive, so I doubt it'll be around for long :( If you love strong sweet smells, you need some of prince charming in your life.

I've not tried this yet, but how cool is the kiss me quick business wash?! They didn't actually tell us about this product on the day, so I had to do a quick google search and essentially SOAP PAPER. The perfect way to travel and stay clean, no spills, no mess and the perfect size to literally keep in your purse. I think its such a genius idea and I'm definitely taking mine on holiday with me soon - saving space and weight whilst travelling, I am all for it!

Something else I've never tried, but its a well loved product from the permanent lush range is the comforter bubble bar (£4.45), which you can break up into pieces and make it stretch! According to some, you can get 10 baths out of this, which is amazing and it smells like berries, whats not to love?

The Lush team kindly gave us all a free fresh face mask of our choice and I choose Ayesha (£7.25),  which contains honey, asparagus and kiwis. These masks have to be kept in the fridge as they're only made from fresh ingredients and I've used Ayesha three times so far - LOVE LOVE LOVE. It is seriously under-rated, because the amount of brightness and glow it gives to my skin - 😍.  It looks unappetising in the pot and on the face, but I don't mind in the slightest cause it does what it claims to do!

Of course I had to purchase an Elsie the giraffe! And I also picked up one bath bomb, since I still have a bit of a collection left from the x-mas time. This is dragons egg, which everyone only had good things to say about! It has a lemon sherbet and jasmine smell and apparently its a gorgeous one to watch fix up haha.

And the final two things I picked up were 1. my first ever shampoo bar and 2. (not pictured) the honey lip scrub. I don't normally buy lip scrubs, but they work a treat and I was feeling like treating myself after a stressful day at school! On to the shampoo bar, which is called honey I washed the kids (£6.25), the reason I picked this up was because I asked one of the lovely staff for some advice. You might know about my skin and scalp problem at the moment, with excessive dryness and I'm 90% sure its due to stress. I am soooo fed up of trying different dandruff shampoos and although I'm getting better at putting oil into my hair, I don't have the time to give myself oil massages on a regular basis. I explained this and the lovely lady recommended me this shampoo bar, which I have seen before but was never drawn to it. I have now used it 3 times and my scalp has never felt better! The dry flakiness has reduced noticeably and my hair feels so soft and clean too. I am so happy I took a chance with this, and a tiny bit goes a long way, because you only need to wet your hands and rub the bar slightly to get enough for the whole scalp so I'm expecting it to last a while! I'm not surprised it's working so well as the main ingredient is honey, which I adore and just a heads up - this'll be in my March favourites without a doubt!

PHEW! There we have it! The newbies and my haul, I hope you enjoyed this post. What are some of your Lush favourites?

Thank-you for reading ♥
