Hell everyone, not to do things by halves, this year I filmed TWO loooong videos talking you through the best of the best, from my makeup collection! I wanted to do two versions, cause I genuinely love both sides of the spectrum. Unfortunately youtube didn't let me save the products and links to reviews under the drugstore video, so all that information can be found below.

Everyday makeup routine // current favourites

It's been a while since I've had a proper chat about my current makeup routine and my favourites, so I decided to combine the two and discuss what I've been loving so much, that I've been using them all on the regular. It is officially the summer holidays!! So I've spent the last couple of days either shopping for my first ever classroom, or just lounging about and relaxing at long last. So this makeup routine is more what I was doing in the final weeks of term, whist I was supply teaching (more on that in an update post!).

Starting with the base, I have been LOVING using the Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow (£38.50) after applying my favourite moisturiser. As I have been so exhausted since way Easter time - really there has been SO much going on, I feel like my skin really has suffered the consequences 😪. Late nights, stress, dehydration, you all know the drill and my skin will need a good amount of pampering this summer to get back on track. As a little cheat, I've been using the wonder glow to add some glow and not only does my foundation look better over the top, but it just adds a gorgeous sheen to the skin. On no makeup days I like mixing a little in with my moisturiser too. I think there are better liquid lighters out there in terms of intensity, but this is a beautiful before foundation step. The base of choice, has been the Wet'n'wild photo foundation in golden beige ($5.99) . I've linked the site where I purchased mine from, and if you don't spend over £15 you won't be charged customs. Anyways this foundation is gorgeous, I love it and I can't believe it's so incredibly affordable! I definitely will be repurchasing it - the shade match is amaaaazing, the coverage is medium and the finish is pretty natural. Let me know if you'd like a full review.

Also it's not often that I talk about foundation brushes, because I am a HUGE beauty blender fan...but I have just gone about 3 months without using one. I really couldn't justify picking another one up whilst I was training and not earning a penny, so I decided to use face brushes and fingers. Don't get me wrong, beauty blenders are still the one and only tool for me if I HAD to pick, but actually the Morphe E6 brush (£15.00) is brilliant. I felt like I was using less product with this brush and with a stippling motion, the size of the brush meant my face was blended in next to no time - perfect for anyone with a busy morning routine. I used to adore the RT buffing brush, but I've literally chucked those out since I've had this in my collection, cause they just do not compare!

Moving on to concealer, old habits die hard here! Well, actually in the last couple of months I did try this phase of going for a lighter coverage undereye, but nothing would work as well as my beloved Kevyn Aucoin Sensual skin enhancer in SX07 (£38.00) reviewed here.  And what I love most about this pot of goodness is that you can actually adjust the coverage if need be. It's my tried and tested and has definitely earned the title of H.G. And to set it, as you can tell from the photo I have been loving yet another U.S drugtore product - the wet'n'wild contouring powder in caramel toffee ($5.99). Majorly hit pan and I will be ordering another one soon, because I love it, the yellow powder is so brightening and its really comparable to more high end powders. I also still do my 'light bake' with whatever loose powder I am using, I don't have a particular favourite at the moment, but just search loose powder in the side bar if you want to know my thoughts on the ones I've used.

Brows...really not much has changed here either! I am still smitten with the ABH dip brow in chocolate (£15.00) and in total shock that it has lasted this long. I have often added a couple of drops of the kiko mixing solution (not on the website for some strange reason!) which works really well at reviving it. The brush I've been obsessed with for the last few months is actually the primark brow brush (£2.50), it honestly rivals brushes that are 4-5X the price, I highly recommend you picking it up.

The eyeshadow palette of choice has been the Zoeva Cocoa blend (£18.00), which is genuinely one of the best palette out there right now. The mattes are creamy enough and have good pigment and the shimmer shades are beautiful on the lid. Colourwise, it is just perfection - with all the shades I need for a basic look. Don't get me wrong, my single shadows palette is still my all time favourite because of the amazing variety and formula - but I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for a daily palette with the basics you need if you're a warm toned lover! The mascara of choice has been the Essence rock n doll (£2.80) because it adds a lovely amount of volume - not the most length, but its a goodie!

Moving on to the face powders, it has been a bit of a Narssist party! The laguna-orgasm duo (which you can get an adorable mini version of for just £15!!), is something I kept with my throughout my time in Pakistan, partly for the mirror but also because laguna is a must have for me. As for that iconic blush shade, I certainly don't mind it, but its not something I would purchase the full size of. That mini size is literally perfection, I mean I've not had the chance to see it in person yet, but what an affordable and great way to try some NARS iconics! The second NARS product is the One shocking moment palette (limited edition). I have loved using the various shades in this and I'm so pleased I picked it up, because again it was a very affordable way to try several of their products in one go! To be honest it was tucked away, for far too long, so I've ensured I'm using it on a regular basis and I've got a really good feel for those, so keep an eye out. And finally a non-nars product! The Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in that glow (£40) reviewed here is just my favourite for everyday, its beautiful and if you don't own a glow kit yet....YA NEED ONE OKAY.

And finally on to the lips, I have been obsessed with my oldschool jordana lip liner in tawny ($),which I saw years ago on Carli Bybel's channel. It is perfect, the ideal MLBB shade and great for slightly over lining. The formula is fantastic too, so much so that I had to pick up a back up last month. The Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick in bombshell (£18.00) and The Balm Meet Matte Hughes in committed (£15.00) reviewed here are the two liquid lippies that have been used the most recently. They're both beautiful pink shades, with fairly similar formulas actually - neither are too thick or heavy and to be honest they don't have the best longevity, but they're lovely! That colourpop lippie is actually their ultra glossy lip in weho (I think!), because I've been loving to switch it up with a different finish. YES, colourpop is a pain in the butt to ship over, but I am soooo impressed with weho, because it's such a comfortable creamy, non-sticky gloss - big big fan.

And that is just about it everybody! Those are my current favourites and go-to products, a mix of high end and low, U.S and UK.

What have you been loving recently?

January 2017 Favourites

Hello! Welcome back to za blushing giraffe, with a slightly late favourites post. So if you read my Jan chatty post you'll know this last month has been the busiest start to the year I have ever had. PGCE year ain't a walk in the park, thats for sure haha. So this post I'm gonna be sharing, as usual, the products that have been making me that little bit happier as the month flew by, leggggggo!

Starting with the base, I have been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation in shade 7 (£32.00), which is a gorgeous light/medium coverage very glowy foundation. It's super quick to apply because I literally blend in a little with my fingers and I'm done in 20 seconds flat. I LOVE IT. You get 40ml and the coverage is pretty buildable, which I do appreciate a lot for the days I may need a bit more coverage (and on the days I actually have the time to add some more too haha!). I didn't love the concealer, but this foundation is a firm favourite.

Similarly I've been loving the NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in St Moritz (£29.50), which I am now almost coming to the end of sadly! It has a little less glow than light wonder, however it does provide a smidgen more coverage and again due to its consistency I have been obsessed over how quickly I can apply this with just my fingers when I'm really in a rush. On days where I've hardly had enough sleep (which is pretty much 5/7 days!), I need a base that'll last decently well, but provide me with a generous glow and both these products deliver. The NARS alternative does get you 10ml more AND has SPF 30, which is worth noting, but they're both fabulous in their own way.

I have also still been obsessed with my Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX07 (£38.00), the BEST concealer ever if you're looking for high coverage! I have spoken about it a lot on IG lately and just want to point you 👉🏽 in the direction of this post, where I share the three shades I have as well as the best way to use it in my humble opinion. Expensive? Initially yes, but one pot will last you minimum 2 years, which is a heck of a lot longer than a typical tube concealer that is around £20 - so if you really think about it, its amazing value for money. It has been my go to, because like mentioned a few words ago, when one is running on a tiny amount of sleep the dark circles are bound to be dark!
\

And finally, a product I have talked about SO much not just on my blog, but on every single social media platform I am a part of!! The embryolisse lait concentrate (£12.95-£20.00) is the best base ever, I have repurchased it sooo many times and although I am trying samples of moisturisers inbetween and trying to switch it up, nothing really compares. One of the key steps to a flawless makeup application is the skincare and the other step is the base you apply underneath. No other product gives me the same plump glowing skin as this does, and it takes foundation and powder really well!

Speaking of powders, there are two new ones in my collection and I have been enjoying them for different reasons. First of all we have the Revolution luxury banana powder (£5.00) which is their blatant rip off from Ben Nye! Literally down to the back of the bottle, they have copied everything and although I do think this is pretty naughty, this brand is a lot easier to get my hands on than that famous Ben Nye powder. I did used to own the B.N version, but I chucked it out a year ago as it was getting a bit too old, and I've not felt the need to order it since as the original is not expensive, but pricer than I would like to spend on a powder. Now this dupe is a gorgeous shade, not too yellow to the point where it verges on green like the E.L.F version, but also not too much of a rich shade either. This is the perfect powder for medium skintone/olive complexions and also deeper skintones for baking. I have heard SOO much about the Laura Mercier one and maybe one day I'll pick it up, but typically I do prefer a slightly yellow toned powder and this stuff sets the face really well, doesn't cake up or crease and lasts well! Whether you're using it for an all over the face powder, or for baking if you're a WOC this could be the best fiver you spend on a powder!

The second powder is one I never hear people talking about, its the Kiko soft light powder. Now I just popped over to their site and sadly I cannot find it anywhere :( which is very upsetting because it makes me think they've discontinued it! However if you do spot it in a store near you, it's worth picking up as its a lovely baked mineral face powder and its very comparable to the MAC mineral skin finishes. The main use I have found for it, is the soniaXfyza buffing technique, which Wayne Goss explains in detail here. This technique does work beautifully and the other powder I love to use it with, is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless powder in medium. However the Kiko one is a great cheaper alternative, so I'm hoping that its a accidental slip up that its not one the website ☹️.

And finally moving on to the eyes, my go-to palette has been the gorgeous Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette (£41.00), which seemed to be in everyone and their grandma's yearly favourites! If you don't have it yet and you're thinking about whether you should pick it up or not, YOU SHOULD. Gorgeously buttery pigmented shades, that blend like an absolute dream! I have gotten so much use out of this palette and one of the best things about it is the vast amount of youtube tutorials out there using just this alone! I definitely get stuck in a rut when it comes to my eyeshadow looks, so to see so many DIFFERENT yet totally stunning looks on the tubes makes me very happy.

I have also really been loving playing with glitter and the Certifeye glitter pots (£5.00) are my all time favourites! They just add so much to a simple look and now I know how easy it is to apply, I almost can't stop haha. Again there is a whole bunch of fantastic inspiration out on instagram and youtube when it comes to glitter, so a major fan! I have the mini bottles which are a fiver and they'll last me a decent amount of time, however Ayesha (the brand owner) also have an amazing range of brushes and lashes and bundles too, so check out her awesome business ^_^

And my final favourite of January has been the Illamasqua precision ink liner in wisdom (£20.50) which I have swatched in my lastest haul post, so check that out if you're interested. This liner has been a beautiful alternative to my regular black and brown liner, as its a stunning olive/khaki shade and to be honest without I didn't think I COULD love liner more, but this has changed the game for me...obsessed!

What were your favourites from the month of January?

July Favourites

July beauty favourites

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Today I'm going to be sharing my July favourites, time really is flying by and soon enough I'm sure I'll be struggling to get up one blog post a week - so I have some work to do in the last few weeks off! July was, like I said in my update post, a really wonderful month and I also got to try a bunch of new makeup and I had been saving up for the longest time. Some of these things are a little random but they're items I have been wanting to share with you all for the longest time, without doing a whole blog post on it.

soap and glory kick ass concealer in medium, benefit hoola bronzer, colourpop ultra satin lip in echo park and charlotte tilbury wonder light foundation in 7

So starting off with my favourite base products of July, the base that has been floating my boat is the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation in shade 7 (£32.00), which I shared in this haul. Although I could probably easily get away with shade 6, this foundation is gloriously glow without looking oily in the slightest. A light/medium coverage which lasts really well on the skin and makes me look super healthy and almost like my skin is just naturally this radiant (hah if only!). I was worried that this would be a very over-priced tinted moisturiser, but so far it is totally worth the money, one of those you get what you pay for products. If you're a fan of a lighter glowing finish you need to check this out! If you prefer a medium/full then give it a miss. My corrector of choice is actually a very new product to my stash, I've only had it for about two weeks so its a bit premature to put it in my favourites - but that really shows how much I adore it already! To be honest I'm not sure why I dismissed this corrector+concealer offering from the highstreet, the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Medium (£10.00) but now I have it, it is here to STAY. I think the main reason why I always avoided it was because there were never testers available in store, but the shade medium is really great. It is one of the best corrector shades I have tried, the perfect peachy colour and the formula is also perfection - not too thick, not too dry, not too creamy...I LOVE IT. The only thing I can really moan about here, is the fact that despite the slightly bulky packaging, the amount of corrector itself isn't great. I love how it includes a little powder, mirror and concealer too which does make it good value for money...I just wish they either included more corrector or they sold it separately (which would be even better).

I rediscovered Benefit's Hoola (£23.50) this month, its always a bronzer I go back to because its just a couple of shades deeper than my skintone and totally matte. So when I want to use one product which'll warm up my face and add a little definition too Hoola is where its at. Its low maintenance, blends so well and is a great tone - not too red, nor too orange or grey! Quickly mentioning my favourite lipstick of the month, because I will have an indepth review up this weekend, but I have been really loving Colourpop's ultra satin lipstick in Echo Park ($6.00). The hype with this formula is so justified and I can't wait to discuss it further soon. Echo park is a beautiful summer colour when worn alone but I love how it can be mixed too - a great formula to check out for sure.

tarte gifted mascara, the balm schwing eyeliner, elaina badro eyeshadow brush

Moving onto the eyes, for the first time ever I have been really obsessed with a mascara...which is pretty odd if you know me well. I genuinely used to dislike mascara a lot (I even wrote a blog post on why it is not my friend loool click %here% if you're super bored and wanna read), so to find a mascara I look forwards to applying is a very great achievement. The Tarte Gifted mascara ($21.00) is amazing, volumising with just one swipe and buildable without becoming too clumpy. It doesn't flake or smudge on me and the best part is the removal is super easy too. Seriously I like it A LOT. I just wish it was cheaper in the U.K thats the only downside because it costs over £20 here...VS £15ish in the U.S 🙄 I recently treated myself to The Balms Schwing Liner (£12.00), (yes its a treat because I'm used to spending a fiver max on eyeliner) because it has been on my to-try list for the longest time. It isn't 100000% LOVE with this liner, only because I'm disappointed in the applicator. I've already had to snip off that annoying bit that is kind of attached to the tip and totally SABOTAGES any attempt at a wing liner...that's the sort of applicator problem I'd expect from a £2 liquid liner. However the intensity of the blackness is incredible and it lasts really really well on my eyes which has meant that any other liner I have open right now has been thrown to the side.

As I get more into eyeshadows I become more obsessed with building the perfect brush kit - this Elaina Badro brush is the BEST for smoking out the lower lashine, something I never used to do but it makes a huge difference. I like that its not so much a pencil brush, more of a tiny shader brush so its perfect for really blending out any shadow in smaller areas - the only thing I'm sad about it that it is no longer available on the beautybay website! ☹️

tony moly avocado sheet mask, soap and glory spf 50, yongnuo 50mm lens canon 50mm lens

And finally the more randomish faves, I'm going to have to start with this amazing Tony Moly Avocado Nutrition Sheet Mask which was recommended by a lovely reader Shehroon. I had seen these face masks floating about the blogosphere, but when I realised what a great deal you could purchase them on from Ebay I had to snap them up! 3 for less than £3 from this seller - it does come from out of the U.K though, so it takes a while but its totally worth it. Korean skincare is amazing and this mask is no exception, I put it on for 20 minutes the other day and my skin drank it up...yes I looked a bit terrifying, but it made a huge amount of difference and the next morning my dull and drained skin looked fresh, radiant and plump.

I've also loved the Soap and Glory SPF 50 (£15.00), it is a must have in my routine. Not only does it protect my skin, but it also works as a primer - two birds in one stone! Also there is currently an offer on, buy one get one half price on S&G products which I took advantage of as although these items are from the highstreet, they do add up when purchased full price!

Something you rarely see on my blog, but I HAD to mention it - the Canon 50mm lens dupe! In February I dropped my Canon lens and it literally broke within 2 seconds and was not repairable. I was gutted, mostly because when I got that lens a couple of years ago I snagged it for just about £60 and when I checked on Amazon it went up to £90 - still an okay price but way out of my student budget. I loved the 50mm, its amazing for portraits especially and whenever I have blurry background photo on my blog its because of this lens. So like I said I was very upset, but after doing a bit of research I found a 'dupe' and figured for £35 it was worth a go. I purchased the Yongnuo YN50mm F/1.8 AF/MF Standard Prime Lens for Canon EOS Rebel Camera and to be honest I wasn't expecting much...but after using it for the past few months I can't even tell the difference! It is incredible, works just as well if not better and now costs 1/3 of the price - if you own a Canon SLR, you need this lens in your life. Easily one of the best purchases of the year for me!

Last but not least the most gorgeous lashes I have tried in a while and for the most insane bargain of a price - winning! I picked these up on a whim, as I usually have bad luck with ebay lashes but these looked different. They come in a pack of three and cost only £1.19!! (Link here)Yes three pairs of lashes for just over a quid and they're sooo beautiful. They're 3D lashes which means they're really fluttery and they basically made my eid makeup look so much better ^_^ I recently ordered another couple of packs of these cause I'll be using them whenever theres a special occasion on myself and friend/family.

I also ordered a pack to giveaway, so fill in the rafflecopter and read the T&Cs carefully. This is open worldwide and I'm not advertising it in the title cause I'm SICK of annoying giveaway accounts entering - but I still want to do mini giveaways like these now and again!

june 2016 favourites the blushing giraffe spin for perfect skin, anastasia beverly hills modern renaissance, sleek suede blush, ABH glow kit sundipped

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've blogged, because I've just been trying to enjoy the end of Ramadan as much as I can, however I did want to get my favourites up because I'm the type of person who hates posting mid-month faves haha. This month I have got a BUNCH of new things, due to birthday money and treating myself for my final year university results, however because I've been fasting I've not been wearing a lot of makeup or trying out a lot of new things. So this is probably one of the smallest favourites post I have ever typed up, but y'know with my fabulous ability to ramble on and on this'll still be rather long.

Anastasia beverly hills modern renaissance, morphe m501, ABH glow kit sundipped

In the month of June the AMAZING summer collection from Anastasia Beverly Hills was released, and the hype was and IS REAL! Seriously they did an amazing job with these new products and I treated myself to the Modern Renaissance Palette (£41) and Glow Kit in Sun dipped glow (£39) and both of these are worth every single penny. The eyeshadow palette is for the first time, permanently available which is awesome because you don't have to worry about it not being available in the future unlike her other palettes! Also you get more pans with this palette AND the size of the pans are slightly larger. There were two reasons why I was excited about this palette, firstly the colour selection is right up my ally - mostly warm but a couple of cool and a LOT of matte shades. Secondly the quality of ABH shadows are incredible. I picked some of the single shadows up in my May birthday sephora haul here, and I was blown away, seriously some of the best eyeshadows I have tried EVER.

The newest glow kit (there are now three in the range) IS limited edition, so if you guys want to get your glow on I'd suggest not hanging around! I have had the biggest stress with these glow kits and I will be explaining everything in an upcoming haul, but anyways this particular glow kit is STUNNING. The formula of the ABH glowkits are what make them super special, creamy, pigmented and long lasting. I love the Becca highlighters (even though I only have one) but I have to admit that sometimes they can look TOO intense and even accentuate any texture on the skin. That just doesn't happen with the glow kits formula, they look good EVERY TIME and the range of colours is fantastic, plus the pan size for the price?? Amazing. 100% worth the £££.

The brush I have been loving to use with this is the Morphe M501 (£6.25) which is a natural hair brush (sable) and it picks up the highlight so perfectly, you literally just need to tap the brush into the pan once and you have enough pigment. When I want a lighter application I'll use a synthetic fan brush as that picks up less product! Also the M501 is the ONLY brush that shows the Laura Geller Gilded Honey highlight up properly, such a great budget buy! I was umming and ahhing over the ABH highlight brush, but this is just over one fifth of the price and does the job perfectly!

spin for perfect skin

Moving onto a skincare favourite, I am really excited to talk about this on my blog: the Spin for perfect skin vanity planet brush which I have been seeing all over YouTube for months now. I've never been interested in the Clarisonic and similar face brushes, although they appealed to me were a little bit too expensive for me to buy on a whim. I didn't want to spent over £60 on a brush and then end up not liking it, so the price point of the vanity planet brushes were the first thing that drew me in. I knew a lot of YouTubers were getting commission for promoting these brushes, which is totally fine of course, but I do think its a bit silly how they're being sold for $100 and then if you apply a code you get it for only $30...why not just sell it for $30 in the first place?? Seeing it all over YouTube kind of put me off too, but recently due to a lot of stress my skin just wasn't cooperating and it was getting more oily than ever which made me reevaluate my current cleansing routine. I basically went onto their site and created an account, then I placed it in my basket and without typing in any code because somehow when I put it into my basket it was already discounted??? (lol). Then I got distracted and forgot about it and a day later I got an email saying 'looks like you forgot something, heres an extra 10% off to help you make up your mind'...and I paid a total of $20 which is £15!! BARGAIN. Okay now on to the actual product 🤗

So this is what you get in the box, I was planning on doing a separate post but now I'm just going to combine it with my faves as I don't have loads of products to talk about this month. You get a pumice stone, a large body cleansing brush, an exfoliating brush and a daily cleaning brush too. So far I have used all of them, apart from the pumice stone and I have been thoroughly pleased. My skin has never been this soft and smooth, I can finally see why so many girls on youtube are raving about it! I've been using the daily cleansing brush almost every single day after I have removed my makeup and the amount of extra makeup and yuckiness it manages to get off in the most gentle manner possible is amazing. I'm also really impressed with the tougher exfoliating brush, I swear since using this my skin has been less congested and my T-zone is less oily which brilliant! The speed of the brush is slower than I expected, but I do like it because it feels very relaxing whilst also doing what it needs to do.

I wanted to note that this was delivered from a UK address which I was surprised about, but that also explains the affordable shipping costs and why it arrived really quickly. Also this means that it'll be really affordable when it comes to picking up extra brush heads and I'm really interested in trying their teeth whitening kits too. The spin for perfect skin takes 4 AA batteries, I'm using rechargeable ones cause yknow ecofriendly and all zat good stuff, but I was speaking to a lovely reader who's been using this for months and she said she's yet to replace her batteries. So basically if you're not using a facial brush currently, I HIGHLY recommend getting this (remember to keep it in the basket and leave it there for a day or two, maybe you'll be lucky enough to get that extra 10% off too ;D). My face feels cleaner than ever at the end of the day and my makeup actually applies a lot smoother too. I don't have a discount code, but type in spin for perfect skin on YouTube and loads will come up!

quayXchrisspy jetlagged sunglasses and sleek suede blush

And the final makeup product, the blush I have been LOVING is Sleek's Suede (£4.95). It is such a gorgeous nude shade blush, inbetween a pink and a brown it is very flattering on all skintones but especially those of you who have a medium skintone like me! I love applying a small amount of this onto the apples of my cheeks, it makes such a nice change from pinks and shimmers which I typically reach for and it is great for everyday. I highly recommend suede to those of you who aren't really blush people, because it adds a bit of dimension and colour without being over the top ever.

I had to mention the QuayXChrisspy Jetlagged sunglasses (£40.00) which I purchased when I got my 20% off birthday discount code from ASOS! I love a good pair of sunnies and I own one of the Quay glasses already which are matte black and a lot more subtle than these. Quay glasses are very very good quality for a decent price, to be honesy £20+ is expensive to me but provided I take care of them I should still be using them in the next 20 years of so...which makes them an investment right?!? Anyway I really wanted the pair called Gemini and of course those are the only ones the U.K ASOS don't stock 🙄 these were my second faves and they are HUGE, the biggest sunglasses I own so if you're not a fan of large/oversized lens skip these. However I love the rose-gold mirror tint on them and how they provide a lot of protection, especially on those no makeup lack of sleep days too.

Those were my June favourites! What were you loving in June?
