My Luxury Beauty Essentials & FarFetch Beauty Wishlist

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. Today I am going to be sharing my absolute must have luxury beauty items. Each of these are a little bit more pricey than say a mid-range/high end brand and quite the splurge, but they’ve all landed a spot in this post and will most definitely be repurchased! I will also be sharing a little wishlist I have put together from an online store called Far Fetch. There are 400 boutiques under one online address (www.farfetch.com) and they have recently launched their brand new beauty section which is very exciting! The whole website oozes with luxury and the beauty department is not lacking either, from Kevyn Aucoin to Hourglass they have ALL the beauty lovers favourites! (This post is also a competition entry for bloggers to win a beauty bundle – very exciting!).

So starting with the base, my must have luxury choice is the Diorskin Star Foundation (£33.00) which leaves a beautifully radiant, brightening finish on the skin, medium and buildable coverage and it also looks wonderful in photos. If you have a yellow skintone, you must try this range out! Concealer and highlight, of course we have the wonderful Kevyn Aucoin sensual skin enhancer (£38) - highly pigmented, super creamy and very versatile too, my makeup collection wouldn’t be complete without at least one tub of this (although I have two, that’s how much I love it!). To complete the base I adore the Charlotte Tilbury Air-brush flawless finish skin-perfecting micro-powder (£33.00) which blurs pores, smoothes skin and holds my base in place. I especially love it for retouching my makeup halfway through a busy day, one sweep of this powder and it looks fresh and beautiful again.

NARS Blushers (£21.50) are hands down my favourite from all the blushes I own (and I have two muji drawers stuffed with blush!). The formula, pigmentation and lasting time on the cheeks all make them well worth the little splurge, I have been using D.T for almost two years now and I still haven’t hit pan! Plus the shade range is wonderful, with options for the lightest to the richest in skintone, everyone should own at least one NARS blush! My favourite luxury highlighter is unfortunately a limited edition one from Dior hence I rarely share it on the blog, it feels too mean! However it is one I seriously wish I had bought a back-up for because it is STUNNING. Every time Dior comes out with a collection, it is well worth checking out their highlighters because they’re fantastic at creating them! The second highlighter, is more of an multi-purpose illuminator, the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal (£33). This product is perfect for mixing in with your favourite base to lift your complexion, or even just on the cheekbones and bridge of the nose as it catches the light so beautifully. It’s the product I turn to when I want effortlessly bright and illuminated skin, without looking like I’ve rolled around in highlighter and glitter!

Far Fetch Beauty Wishlist

There are honestly so many wonderful brands to choose from when it comes to Far Fetch Beauty that I could make two of these with ease! Each of these brands are luxurious and extremely high-quality. I have included makeup and skincare, so let us begin! Hourglass Cosmetics have been on the top of my wishlist for the longest time because the powders in particular receive rave reviews! The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette (£56.00) was a cult favourite and I think each of the shades would work well for my medium skintone. I also think the size of the pans are very reasonable for the price! Hourglass Mood Exposure Blush (£28.00) has been on my wishlist for the longest time, since I’ve seen so many other medium skintoned bloggers rave about the shade – isn’t it the most stunning mauve?! Finally from Hourglass, the Mineral Veil Primer (£20.00) has caught my eye recently, it seems like a beautiful base for makeup!  I would love to get my hands on the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder (£35) because once again it has been raved about from ladies with fair skin to medium – I have plenty of bronzers and contour shades in my collection already, but one day I would love to pick this up.

I’m thrilled to see that Far Fetch stock the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops (£36.00) and once I know my shade I’m definitely going to give them a go. The versatility of these is incredible, you can use them with oils, moisturisers, tinted moisturiser and even to make a current base suit your skintone better! Genius idea. From Becca of course I would love to pick up a Shimmering skin Perfector (£30.00) or two! Opal and Moonstone are both on my wishlist, with the latter being more of a cool toned gold. I’m also really interested in the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector (£19.00), the peachy tone looks perfect for correcting my horrendously dark circles.

Moving on to skincare, I want to try the REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial (£32.00) which is an overnight treatment, promising to leave the skin brighter, more luminous and even-toned. I love the brand and have high expectations! I saw Kaushal on YouTube raving about about the This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up (£30.00) and was intrigued enough to add it to my wishlist! It’s a product which promises to erase the signs of fatigue, boost hydration and prepare the skin for makeup. It sounds like one of those bases you reach for when your skin is having a tired day, or you have a special event coming up. The final item in my wishlist is something I don’t envisage owning at any point in the next two years, but the Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil (£85.00!) is raved about for it’s ability to improve the appearance of damaged skin and also help fight wrinkles. The pricetag is shocking, so I feel like it’ll be one of those items I purchase when I get my first real salary after I’ve finished training.

January Favourites 2016

This is the latest I have ever posted a favourites video, I do apologise! Again like I’ve already said in my January update post, I have to prioritise uni over this little area now and again…but anyway, without further ado lets get on with my favourites of January.

Starting with the bases I have been loving the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation in Y365 (£29) which I have been promising a review for over a month now, it is coming I promise! But to give you a quick summary, it looks like skin that I wish I had woken up with! Light to medium coverage and a formula which sits between satin and matte to me, it feels weightless on the skin and my favourite part about it is that the colour match is the most accurate I have ever found! 

January was the month that I finally got on board with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger (£22.50) which I have owned for a good few months, but as this shade is a great match for my skin tone and not brightening for the under-eyes I just didn’t find myself reaching for it that often. I should have picked up custard, but as I have this shade and can make it work I made myself pick it up more often and the creamy formula and delightful coverage that many a YT-Guru have raved about is lovely! I found that wiggling the applicator around the tube got a tonne more product out and although its not brightening or highlighting under the eyes, it worked well to conceal on a more low-key look y’know? It is also great for covering redness and blemishes on the days I didn’t wear makeup (which I’ll talk about below!). 

Finally from the bases I rediscovered and became slightly obsessed with the Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer in 3 (£5.49). It is a lovely peachy shade which corrects 80% of the darkness under the eyes in less than 5 seconds! A little goes a long way, which really minimises creasing and I can easily layer a brightening concealer over the top. It is an essential in my makeup bag and I will be repurchasing several backups in May!

The next favourite is perhaps a little controversial, especially being an Asian girl but I have absolutely loved it for more reasons than one so I had to share it; the Bareminerals Faux Tan Face Gradual Glow (£18.00). Before this I had only tried fake tan given to me at a blogger event and I had no desire or need to use it on my arms and legs. However for quite some time I’ve been wanting to wear foundation less often, but my face happens to be a good deal lighter than my hands because I always protect it from the sun, so without foundation I look so peaky and pale. I wanted to try a tanner which was gentle enough to use on my face and also not clog the pores. When I saw this on look fantastic in the December sales I couldn’t resist. So far I’ve used it about three things and the first two times were great, my skin was a beautiful olive shade (not orange in the slightest) and it matched my hands and neck really well. All I wore on my face was concealer and I LOVED it! This time I may have applied a little bit too much as it’s a tad uneven (I still need to figure out the best application for it, other than my fingers) and I would be lying if I said it didn’t smell at least a little like fake tan. However the fact that the colour looks naturally sun kissed and spares my skin from a full on base for at least three days I can get over the scent! 

I have also been loving the REN Vita Mineral Lip Balm (£9.00) which has been the fastest acting balm I have tried in a while. I totally agree with the description, it is deeply replenishing and any soreness and chapped lips were soothed literally overnight! I hate those balms that you have to constantly reapply and this is not one of them. It is also miles better than the NUXE one at actually doing what it’s supposed to do! I don't think I can be without this stuff and the fact that it is paragon, sulphate, mineral oils, fragrances etc free is yet another tick in the box for me. If you’re looking for a lip balm that actually works, spend a little extra and I’m sure you’ll never look back! 

The Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer (£29) has blown me away this month. When I initially got it in a Space NK goodybad, I felt pretty ehh about it, didn’t use it much and ended up putting it away. However since being on my ban I have had a good root through my stash and rediscovered this with a very different experience. It is actually hydrating, without being sticky or heavy on the skin, makeup goes on so much smoother…and the best part? It really does keep my base on for longer, which means previous foundations I complained about, for fading away quicker than I’d like (Bourjois happy light!!) will work so much better for me now.

The Topshop Glow Pot in Gleam (£9.00) reviewed here has been another item I have rediscovered and it’s such a gorgeous cream highlighter against my olive skin tone! I love how quite and easy it is to use with the tips of my ring finger, alone or as a powder highlight base, it has been a firm staple in my makeup routine this month! I was going to post my LOTW on sunday, but I already has the update going up then, so I’ve decided to wear the Wet’n’Wild Mega Last Lipstick in ‘In the Flesh’ ($2.75) for the second week in a row because I have loved it that much. It is a medium pink, mixed with a tiny bit of dusty pink if that description makes any sense?! You’ll be getting full swatches this sunday, but this line of lipsticks are honestly one of my all time favourites. Creamy, pigmented, they last a good 3 hours and then they fade evenly. Highly recommend! 

Finally, last but certainly not least my final favourite of the month is the NARS And God Created The Woman Eyeshadow Palette (£40.50)! I purchased this in the summer of 2014, hid it away as motivation for my exams that year and quite honestly I totally forgot about it *inserts red faced emoji here*. I found it a few months ago and throughout January it was the only palette I used because the quality of the shadows are glorious. They’re all one-swipe wonders, which to be honest with you at that price point I would expect! The shadows last on my lids all day and the size of the palette is so perfect for travelling (although shockingly small if you’ve never seen it in real life before!). I don’t know how many of you have seen the beautiful customisable NARS palette (link here), you can create your own and I had a lot of fun playing with this feature and then wincing at the price! ONE DAY I would love to create my own, but not while I currently have so many products not in pan form, it would feel like a waste.  A lot of the shades that I had put in my custom palette online, I already owned in this little palette, so I’d recommend checking it out if you want some NARS shadows, a brush AND the pro prime (both of which I am yet to try out!).

January Favourites 2016

NARS One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS POST, I CANNOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO EXPRESS IT WITHOUT THE TRUSTY CAPS LOCK. Also this post is going to be VERY picture heavy, just a little warning because A. I couldn’t pick a couple B. I want you all to appreciate this beautiful palette C. Its the only thing I’m gonna buy makeup wise in an 8 month period, so allow me my excitement please ^____^

The NARS One Shocking Moment Cheek Studio Palette (£49) is the only palette from the holiday releases, which really stood out to me and captured my heart. If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’ll know that approximately 54 days ago I decided to set myself a challenge and not purchase any more makeup till my 21st birthday (which is on the 25th of May 2016). However in that post I mentioned that I did give myself a small budget (or ONE purchase) from the holiday collections, as these tend to give you excellent value for money, the opportunity to try more products for a cheaper price and normally they come in travel friendly palettes.

When I saw the Hourglass release, like many others my eyes turned to heart-eyed emojis and I tweeted that I would probably be needing that! But honestly I am SO happy that I am not buying makeup because it really forces me to think carefully before making a purchase. I’m going to be honest, if I wasn’t on this challenge/ban I probably would have bought it as soon as it was released, but after watching several YT videos I realised how much of an absolute rip off the palette is. I think I heard that the amount of product in a single sized Hourglass blush/bronzer/powder is more than the total amount of powder in the 6 pan holiday release....how did they think that was fair at all?? Anyway if you do have it I really hope you’re happy with it, but after looking into it a little more I knew NARS was the way forwards.

Again regular readers here will know that I am quite the NARSsisst, I am yet to regret any of my purchases from NARS and I use the brand on a daily basis. Last years palette had the most stunning packaging and I generally liked it - I would have 100% switched the highlighter, but the fact that they included casino over laguna for once AND THE MINI ITA BRUSH, I still think it was worth it’s price tag. This year NARS collaborated with edgy photography Steven Klein and its safe to say the packaging is boardline...creepy. This palette’s in particular isn’t too bad, it certainly is unique, but I can’t say I’m head over heels y’know? Anyway I quite like the lack of rubber packaging, it is wipeable and the lid itself is made of a glossier kind of plastic.

Size wise this palette is the largest I own from NARS, as it houses seven different powders! The total amount of product in this palette is 29.5g which for the £49 price tag is pretty amazing value for money. The Paloma contour blush duo (3.5g x 2) is one of the main reasons why I choose this, because I had seen this range before but never really felt like I needed any of them. A full size of Paloma, which is the middle shade from the range, contains 2.7g of the lighter shade and 5.5g of the contour, so you actually get more of the highlight in here. You get 8.5g of Laguna, which is extremely generous seeing as a full sized Laguna is 8g and costs £27.50 alone. There are four blushers and you get 3.5g of each one, again  I think that’s pretty generous seeing as a full sized NARS blush costs £23 and you get 4.8g in a full sized pan. So all in all, this is one of the best palettes value wise that you can get your hands on.

Now lets get on to what I think about the actual shades included. So far Paloma has been a mixed bag. I like but don’t love the darker ‘rosy brown’ shade, it works decently well for chiselling the cheekbones, however it’s not grey toned enough for me to want to purchase a full size. The highlight shade is decent for setting under-eye concealer, however it isn’t as yellow toned as I had hoped. This is more of a natural setting powder for me and I’m very happy to own it, because I now know it would have been a bit of disappointment to one day purchase the full size for £30. I do however think that this duo is versatile enough for a decent amount of skintones and the quality of the powders are just as I had imagined, pigmented enough to do the job, buildable and of course very blendable.

Moving on to Laguna, this bronzer is one of my all time favourites. I actually purchased the NARS Tahiti Laguna bronzer haul post here, which is HUGE, because I love it that much. In the pan it looks pretty meh and on the orange side of things, but on my skin it works fantastically well to warm up my face without much effort. It has little bits of shimmer in the pan but I don’t find that they show up on the skin. It honestly is one of my HGs, alongside the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in medium/deep and Benefit’s Hoola. But from the three of them Laguna is the bronzer which can give me a believable warmth to the skin, make lighter bases work and not appear streaky in any way as it isn’t exactly matte. I certainly didn’t need anymore Laguna in my collection at any point soon, but I cannot complain because I use it so often!

The blusher round up is again versatile and better than last years holiday blush palette too. Shades from light to deeper, all of which can work well for most skintones. Also the advantage of having a few blushers in one palette, means you can mix and match to get the perfect shade - always a good thing! From left to right, Robotic a new shade is a pretty cool toned light-medium pink with shimmers. I wish it had slightly more golden tone to it because those are my favourites, but its wearable. Would I buy a full size? No. But that is the beauty of having it in palette form. Blasphemy is my favourite from the four shades and instantly made me think of my HG NARS blush (reviewed here), however this has a much stronger peachy tone. In fact this is like D.T and Torrid merging to form this colour and I like it! Definitely the type of shade I can practically apply with my eyes closed as it ticks my boxes and it looks super flattering on olive skintones - yes I’d purchase this in full size! The next two are part of their permanent line and I’m really happy to have Luster, a peachy-golden blush, in this form because I really wasn’t drawn to it when passing NARS counters. I haven’t really used this yet, but I’ll report back soon. Finally the gorgeous Dolce Vita blush is included, which I already have a full size of. It is STUNNING for A/W time, a medium plum shade with little barely there golden shimmers and it also has a gorgeous sculpting effect too.

The palette contains a huge mirror on the inside, which is always a good thing in my opinion and after having this in my possession for around a week, I can give you the verdict that I am SO happy with this purchase. The amount of products to trial, the amount of product provided and the consistent high quality of NARS powders makes it a wonderful purchase in my opinion, and well worthy of the ‘one purchase in 8 months’ slot!

I purchased my palette from SpaceNK and I can’t believe they’ve actually dropped the price ._. I got mine for £49 but it is currently £45 - so if you want to save a couple of quid (plus free delivery!) they I advise you get your hands on it right now, because I don’t think it’ll be this price for long. I love SpaceNK and I found the speed of the delivery to be super quick PLUS I got a bunch of really decently sized samples! I picked the Caudalie anti-wrinkle lip and eye cream, Caudalie anti-wrinkle defence serum, REN Invisible pores detox mask and the Chantecaille face oil. I’ve been using the lip and eye cream and I’m surprised by how much I like it. I also can’t wait to try that REN mask! Thanks SpaceNK for being so generous ^.^

Overall Rating

Pros: 7 different powders, very generous sizes and an affordable price. Sturdy packaging, large mirror and unique design. The laguna bronzer is almost the same size as a full sized, the paloma contour duo work decently well and are suitable for light/medium skintones. The four blushers have a good range between them, with a cool tone, a peach tone, a very golden tone and a stunning deeper shade. Two brand new blushers in this palette. Consistent high quality across the palette. The size of each of the products are large enough for you to really test them out and find out if they’re worth buying a full size of. Excellent value for money!

Cons: The colours, though versatile, are not useable for darker skintones. I always think its a shame that high end brands don’t come out with two versions of their holiday palettes.

Repurchase? As it’s L/E I wouldn’t be able to but if it disappeared, yes! If you like it, get it ASAP, I doubt you’ll regret it!

Eid Gift Guide Part 1 | Beauty Edition

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing fantastically. As it will be Eid in approximately two weeks I thought it was an appropriate time to post a little gift guide or two for you all! Although these are titled with Eid they are great ideas for any occasion, be it birthdays or anniversarys, so I hope they're useful to all my readers. Gift giving is a Sunnah therefore is highly encouraged, plus we all like getting gifts so why not shade the love? ^_^ Life is too short not to spread a bit of happiness. This guide will be for the ladies, so your sisters, mothers, aunties, cousins and friends. I have linked everything I'm mentioning so have a click and check it out for yourself, also I've tried to get the best prices and any special offers on too.

The fist category is of course beauty (high-end)  so lets begin...

The Ultimate Eid gift you could give a sister this month has to be the Blame it on NARS cheeks palette! (£45) It’s a little bit pricey but if you have the budget for it, or wish to combine it for their Eid and birthday present, believe me any woman would be thrilled to own it. The first cheek palette
which does not contain any of their iconic shades, including Laguna - because I’m sure we all have at least one of those! It has Casino which is the ideal bronzer for medium/dark skintones a deeper highlight shade (satalite of love) as well as two limited edition blusher shades AND A MINI ITA BRUSH! Yes I do blame it on the NARS, cause mine arrived in the post today and I am overall very impressed. Whether for yourself or a loved one this is seriously one of the best gift anyone could give that's make-up related.


I would always recommend Too Faced for their eyeshadow palettes, they are creamy and pigmented, plus the colours work together really well. I love both the Chocolate Bar (£39 normally £45) and the Natural Eyes (£32) palettes. Similarly I think anything from The Balm cosmetics always makes for a wonderful gift, the packaging is adorable and the products are well worth the price, with exceptional quality. The California driver licence palette (£16.50) is one of my favourites, it’s about the size of a debit card so it's super travel friendly and it contains brilliant shades - I treated myself to this when I passed my driving test and it’s like a little keepsake from that milestone, so if any of your loved ones are planning on doing their test this could be the perfect little encouragement hehe.


I think makeup brushes always make for wonderful gifts because anyone who wears makeup needs brushes, especially those who think they don't. Brushes can change a girl's life for real. The  Zoeva Rose Gold Brush Kits (£56.95) are so beautiful and the quality is on par with all the top brush brands. I don’t personally own it but I know it would be an amazing gift which would last a long time too! Also each brush technically costs £7 each which is generally cheaper than buying it individually plus you get a study clutch to keep them safe in.  If Zoeva isn’t in your budget I really recommend picking up one or two of the Real Techniques brush kits which are great value for money. My personal favourite is Real Techniques Sam’s picks (£29.99)- reviewed here which contains 90% of brushes anyone could need. Also the iconic Beautyblender (£13.95 normally £16.00) - to those who have not tried this, you may think it is just a sponge, but no, no no no no it’s not. This is the queen of tools for makeup application, you’ll find it hard to get a more flawless application with any other brush and I truly believe every woman needs at least one in her collection.

Anything Charlotte Tilbury looks swoonworthy, but it’s quite a high end brand, so I recommend picking up some of her Lip Cheats (£16) to give as gifts because they're somewhat affordable, at least in comparison to other high-end gifts. Pillow talk and Iconic Nude are the two that catch my eye.

Okay now on to the drugstore/highstreet and more budget alternatives because I know some of you are thinking...errr Iqra, the above is great and all but I'm a student and I do not have the budget for giving those out at gifts! Don't worry guys... I did try to spread out the cost from around £16+ but fear not, the below are cheaper yet still good quality makeup gifts that would make awesome presents!

I love the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit (£6.49) which I reviewed here and I think its perfect for anyone starting out in contouring, or anyone who's looking for an affordable kit! It truly is a gem from the drugstore and affordable enough to buy a couple and spread the chiselled love tehe. Eyeshadow palettes always make great gifts and from the high-street I think Sleek Palettes (£7.99) and Makeup Revolution (£4-£8) have the absolute BEST quality that you could get for a budget price. Especially the I heart chocolate palette reviewed here which  is a great dupe to the chocolate bar one mentioned above! Barry M also make awesome Nail polishes (£3-£4) with so many shades and formulas to choose from and buying a trio with perhaps a neutral shade, bright shade and a dark shade would make a really nice gift. Sleek are also fantastic for blushers, have a browse of their blush-by-3s and single ones too! Very affordable compared to high-end, but without compromising on the quality so I'm certain Sleek items would be highly appreciated!

I wouldn't recommend buying anyone foundations and concealers, because they're very easy to get  wrong due to the different undertones and finishes, but I think lip products make great gifts. Some of the best you can get are the Rimmel Lipliners (£3-£4), Rimmel Lipsticks (£5-6) and Sleek Matte Me's (£5) they're affordable, generally comfortable to wear and come in a decent range of colours. Also with each of these brands, boots has little special offers such as free gifts when you spend over £10 or buy one get one half price making it the idea time to stock up for yourself and for gifts!

I always have a browse of the ASOS Beauty section because they normally have sales on and they also sell great little gift sets too. A good example is of this REN Glow and Go (£12) which has the 1 minute facial mask mask and the Glycolactic Radiance Mask, both of which work well with all skintypes and are from a brand that contains no parabens and are made from as natural ingredients as possible.

Another good idea is picking up a makeup bag and then filling it with a couple of things mentioned above. I think this is one of the best gifts you can give a girl - it's somewhat personalised gift and so useful too!
