Review | MUA Power Pout in Rendezvous

MUA Power Pout Rendezvous

Hey guys! We’ve seen quite a few brands across the drugstore create these chubby, twistable sticks of colour in the form of a balm, following the well known Clinique chubby sticks of course. MUA’s version is a whole lot cheaper and personally I think we’re on to a winner.

I now own two shades, Rendezvous and Broken Hearted which I haven’t actually opened yet. They’re £3 and available from Superdrug or the MUA website (which recently had a massive sale on so worth signing up to e-mails me thinks!)

MUA states that it is ‘a lip treatment with colour intensity that relieves dry, cracked lips providing immediate moisturisation’  And I agree with this. As someone who often has dry lips, applying colour can be a pain because there’s nothing worse than lip products accentuating the cracks and looking like a bright mess D:

The power pout’s aren't the most moisturising product available, but they do provide re-hydration and an impressive amount of colour. They are extremely easy to pop into you bag and reapply without a mirror throughout the day because of the useful crayon shape, not to mention the twist up style, which makes it a very practical, sharpener and fuss free product. The writing on the packaging however, after spending a few weeks in my bag, has managed to half rub off and it’s worth mentioning that the top of it can get a little messy, but that is usually the case with all crayon like lip products.

The colour however is a little misleading, As you can see from the swatches, it appears on the skin as a pinkie nude shade, but when applied it turns out to be a pretty berry colour. This could just be because of the pigmentation of my lips, but the flash image also shows a different shade of pink, and online swatches of this particular shade vary too. So it’s worth checking out to see how it’ll come out for you…a mystery colour haha. Initially I was disappointed that this wasn't the nude it promised to be, but I quickly got over it as the colour is very pretty, and for the price I don’t think I can complain. I enjoyed wearing and carrying it around so much that I know eventually the other four shades will join the two I own right now.

What also impressed me was the colour payoff, despite it claiming to be a tint I found a lot more colour from this than from Peach Parfait review The lasting power is average, but it does leave a slight stain across the lips. It also has a slight mint smell and ‘feel’. The tingling feeling is brief however and in no way uncomfortable.

I really think these are brilliant lip pouts, and MUA have done a fantastic job. For the price, you are getting a quality product which not only lives up to its claims but also gives a lot more colour than expected. Thumbs up from me!

Final Verdict:

Product rating: 9

Pros: Great colour pay off, great value, available in a range of different colours, shaped nicely so easy to apply when out and about, twistable, leaves a slight stain when gloss goes – longer lasting!

Cons: colour isn’t always what it seems, packaging is a little cheap

Repurchase? These gems really impressed me, and for that price I certainly wouldn't hesitate to repurchase :)

P.S Apologies for the poor photo quality of this post, I’m trying a few different editing sites, but I couldn’t keep the quality looking awesome unfortunately :(

Thanks for reading!

Summer Nail Art– Roses

Hello ^_^
So a while back I purchased these nail art dotting tools from Amazon and I have to say they are pretty awesome, especially for that price!

I’ve created one or two different looks, but haven’t really had the time to spend ages over my nails. I’m certainly not the type of girl who’ll weekly use a nail file and buffer to make sure my nails are in tip-top condition and I’ve always wished I had slender, pretty hands but mine are the clumsy type – which nonetheless work perfectly fine so I can’t complain haha.

Occasionally I like to attempt being creative and so I thought I’d share this summery look.
(Please excuse the messy pre-cleanup, I forgot to take some pictures after I’d gone around the nails with a handy cotton bud!)

The leaves aren’t actually that neat this close up, but it’s been zoomed in a lot. In real life they really do look like little leaves :)

Roses are my absolute favourite flower, and I adore this green colour by Essie!

Nail Polishes used:
ELF, BARRY M, TOPSHOP, ESSIE, RIMMEL
From L-R: Barry M Basecoat, Topcoat and Nail Hardener, Elf in Nude, Topshop in Easy Breezy, Beauty UK in Golden Claret, Essie in Mojito Madness and Rimmel London in Pure Sin.
Do you enjoy experimenting with your nails from time to time or are you more of a one shade kinda person?

Hello

Welcome to my blog! It'll be mainly focused on beauty, after spending a year and a half watching YouTube videos and avidly reading other blogs I have plucked up the courage to start my own. The Blushing Giraffe, is a place where I intend to share my opinions on products, hauls and favorites, as well as to discover other beauty lovers and connect through that blogosphere.

I'll start with 5 random facts to introduce myself with;

  • I am 1/16 Burmese.
  • I have a terrible sweet tooth and am also fond of baking, which leads me to a ambition in the future to one day be able to open up a bakery in memory of my grandfather.
  • I pick online shopping over real life shopping every time, there's nothing better than sitting in your PJs having a cheeky splurge and then receiving a parcel (present) a few days later.
  • I am a children's tutor, currently hoping to get into University so I can study Psychology and then become a primary school teacher.
  • I'd much rather be behind the lens than in front of it.

Please bear with me as I find my feet on blogger, but I'm very excited to be joining this platform ^_^
