Haul | MAKE UP FOR EVER

It’s Thursday again which means time for another haul! This time a first look at a new brand to the UK - MAKE UP FOR EVER which launched on the 19th of May 2015 in Debenhams. You can purchase a relatively large amount of their products online or you can visit the Debenhams on Oxford street to see the whole counter. Needless to say I was VERY excited, it’s about time we got easier access to the professional, polished and relatively affordable high-end brand - not to mention another ethical one.

Although everyone raves about the MUFE HD Foundation it wasn’t the first base I was wanted to try, I had my eye on the Face and Body Foundation. I used to enjoy the MAC one, but of course I haven’t repurchased it since finding out that they’re involved with the inhumanity going on in Palestine. Anyway I had heard the MUFE face and body version lasts longer and is waterproof too so I purchased the shade 32 - Alabaster Beige costing £27. In the bottle this looks a lot more peach toned than I thought but I haven’t used it yet so hopefully it blends in as well as the unethical alternative. I do wish MUFE had an easier system with their shades in terms of undertones but I guess that’s where the internet comes in handy. I love the packaging and the pump, although due to the consistency water/gel it can look a bit weird in the bottle!

As they had an offer on (buy two beauty items and get 10% off) I also purchased a Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in the shade: N14 - Soft Beige. The price £16 is similar to MAC again and the colour is kind MLBB mixed with nude, so far so good!

I really hope I get on with Face & Body, it sounds like a brilliant everyday base with a natural finish, long lasting in warmer weather and from reviews, doesn't look detectable on the skin either.  I will be reporting back in the next few weeks of course!

Review | Good Things Manuka Honey Creamy Cleanser

Hello everyone, today’s review has got me very very excited because the Good Things Manuka Honey Creamy Cleanser might just be the BEST cleanser I have ever used and the best part? it costs a mere £4.99! I have tried many cream cleansers, from the well known Liz Earle C&P to the original ponds cold cream cleanser and for my skintype (normal/dehydrated with the odd dry patch) they tend to work well. Having enjoyed the good things eye cream (provides light moisturising and sits well under makeup) I decided to give their Manuka Honey line a go. Especially when I read that it includes the ingredient Royal Jelly and Manuka honey (ofc) which is often found in much more expensive skincare, but more on that later.


I have a detailed night-time skincare routine coming up this week which includes this cleanser as I use it every single evening, after I have removed the majority of my make-up. It is super creamy and feels so soothing to rub into the skin. I can almost feel my skin being nourished and although I have a weak sense of smell, I definitely catch the scent of honey. The directions state you should use a hot flannel with this stuff and most of the time I do, as it leaves my skin feeling totally clean, super soft and plump. The first time I used this I felt like I’d been well and truly pampered. I’m so used to cleansers leaving my skin feeling dry and even parched with that horrid tight feeling, so to have baby soft skin is incredible.

Now onto the ingredients, the first thing to be noted with all Good Things products is that they are free from parabens, mineral oils and sulphates. This cleanser contains Vitamin E which is well known to help against the effects of aging by destroying free radicals (sounds awfully adventurous right?!). Royal Jelly has been used by many cultures for years due to its skin healing properties, it’s anti aging, extremely hydrating and rich in amino-acids. It is also anti-inflammatory and wound healing which explains why Good Things state this helps to keep the skin clear, a claim which I can back up. I started using this every single day about a month before my exams and although I’m not prone to breakouts this cleanser really kept those horrendous ‘stress spots’ at bay, whilst hydrating my skin and keeping it soft. Normally spot fighting products have the tendency to dry out the skin so the fact that this does a decent job at keeping skin clear whilst adding a whole lot of moisture is fantastic. It’s not an alternative to acne cream by any means but it’s worth checking out if you have sensitive skin (so long as you don’t mind the strong scent). The final key ingredient is Manuka Honey found in many more expensive skincare products is scientifically proven to hydrate, moisturise, nourish, heal, protect and rejuvenate - wow! After reading about Manuka honey I’m going to be buying some for the house as well as the skin because it is a miracle natural product!

Pros: Feels like a luxury cleanser, cleans skin whilst adding moisture, plumping and leaving it baby soft! Nourishes the skin as it is packed with great ingredients, some found in much more expensive skincare. SO AFFORDABLE. No mineral oil, parabens and other nasties. It doesn't dry the skin out at all and at the same time it doesn't over load my skin or make it feel filmy or heavy. Smells divine. Makes my skin feel happy and no other cleanser has compared.

Cons: Scent may be a little strong for some people.

Repurchase? Yes I don’t think I could ask or expect anything else from a cleanser, this one I will repurchase time and time again!

Review | L.A Girl Pro. Conceal HD Concealer in Creamy Beige

One of my most read posts is my review of 6 of the L.A Girl Pro. Conceal HD Concealers which you can read here. I bought them from beautyjoint.com which is one of my favourite U.S sites and they only cost me just under £2. However the price has now gone up and the shipping price is also a lot more 😕. So I would recommend purchasing them from beautybay, where the full range is available.  These concealers have been named dupes for the MAC Pro-longwear concealer just with more coverage and after using them for a good few months now, I have to say I am still just as impressed as I was before. However when I did my first haul, I didn’t pick up a brightening/highlighter shade which is what I was really lacking, so a couple of weeks later I ordered ‘creamy beige’ and it is just perfecto!

‘Creamy beige’ when first applied on the skin, bizarrely looks a little orange and I was pretty taken aback when I saw this, could it be the same shade I had seen many a YouTuber apply?? Thankfully when blended out with a damp beauty blender it becomes brighter and slightly more yellow toned. Its creamy in texture and opaque too. My favourite way to apply this, as with all other concealers, is to let it sit on my skin for at least 1 minute before blending it out. This increases the coverage more than if you just started to blend straight away. The applicator is awesome, pointy enough to apply product exactly where you need it and also comfortable enough to use on the face. For the price - a mere fiver, I can hardly believe my luck. This is one of the best drugstore concealers on the market and I have purchased a few back ups too. It works well as a brightening concealer for those who wear Stromboli in NARS and probably for the next two shades up too.

Just to be clear I don’t use this directly under the eyes or alone on that area. I will always colour correct first and then if my dark circles are particularly bad that day I’ll go on to use either my Kevyn Aucoin SSE or a thicker concealer like to Collection lasting perfection to conceal all the darkness. I’ll then apply this about a centimetre from under the eye, drawing a loose triangle shape and putting it on other areas that I want to brighten. When I’m blending it out I try to push the product, using the sponge, upwards so it all merges together with the concealed darkness just above and finally I ensure I set it well with banana powder.

Once you get your blending right (and trust me the beauty blender is the best of the best for this purpose) these concealers are wonderful for getting that highlight and contour on!
