essence Stays No Matter What Jumbo Eye Pencil - 05 Cute Copper & 08 Chocolate Brownie review and swatch

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to be reviewing these jumbo pencils from Essence which I first featured in this haul. I purchased them from Wilko and they cost me £1.50 each - I know, INSANE! It was literally love at first swatch and for that price I could hardly say no could I??

The packaging is that of a standard jumbo pencil, and yes you do have to sharpen these. As you can see the writing has faded a lot which reminds me of the collection lasting perfection concealer, cheap and cheerful so I’m not surprised.

These are not quite as creamy as the Rimmel Scandaleyes version, however they are more pigmented and it doesn’t take much for the colour to show up. The formula does set pretty quickly, but you can just about blend out the edges for a quick smoky eye if you wish.  I primarily use both of them as an eyeshadow base, alone they last a decent 7-8 hours on my eyelids, but underneath eyeshadow they stay put and prolong shadow wear time for at least 10 hours, which for the price is pretty wonderful!

Cute Copper 05 is GORGEOUS, if you have brown eyes you need this shade in your life because it makes my eye colour stand out so beautifully! A somewhat metalic(ish) copper colour with hints of gold shimmer which don’t look tacky, they simply catch the sunlight and look like you’ve put a lot more effort into your eye-makeup then a simple swipe! I apply this all over and then add a darker brown shadow in the outer corner of the eyelid, pop some eyeliner on and I’m good to go. The speed of application is another great plus point.

Chocolate Brownie 08 is less metallic, but as you can see it does have a slight copper undertone which is (again) perfect for brown eyes, although I imagine these two would look stunning on green and hazel eyes too. I love to use chocolate brownie on the lower lash line, or if I’m feeling really fancy, I smudge a little where I would normally do a winged liner.

I think these are phenomenal for the price, they’re versatile, easy to use and these two colours in particular are perfect. I know they also do a green, blue, black and white but I’m not sure I’d get enough use out of them to add to my collection.

Overall Rating
Rating: 9

Pros: Highly pigmented, great as eyeshadow bases, last a decent amount of time alone, both colours are stunning for brown eyes in particular but cute copper with its slight golden undertone is just breath taking! Super affordable and quick to use.
Cons: You have to sharpen it, the writing come off the packaging.

Repurchase? Yes I would 100% buy these again - you just can’t go wrong at that price ^_^
