Review | Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch - Shimmering Sand | #JANBLOG 15

rimmel wake me up instant radiance shimmer touch shimmering sand review

This is going to be a fairly quick review, because 1) I’m short on time and 2) I don’t have a HUGE amount to say about this product! However I picked this up from Fragrance direct for a cheaper price than in the highstreet and figured I’d give it a go. It has been named a dupe for both Benefit’s sunbeam and also the latest highlighter. Unfortunately I can’t compare this to either, but maybe you can judge from the swatch below?

Now I purchased this a few weeks ago, and I’ve dabbled with it a few times to come to the conclusion that I have a love/hate relationship with the stuff. It is a peachy toned cream highlighter which adds a lot of glow if it’s not blended out well enough!

The Loves
It’s colour is a lovely match for my skintone, not PERFECT but near enough. Especially when I’ve bronzed a little. It’s great for laying highlight, which of course pro-longs any product on your skin and it really does add a natural glow. I will get a lot of use out of this during the summer time as the peachy tone is pretty natural (though I’m not completely sure how useful this would be for fairer skin tones).

The Not So Great (for me anyway)
It has quite a strong smell, I don’t have a problem with it but I’d rather it not be there. I think it is designed to ‘wake one up’ but I can imagine other’s not appreciating that. It’s not SUPER blendable, and can be difficult to apply. I’ve tried with a stippling brush but it can be patchy, yet when I try with my fingers it sometimes disturbs the base underneath.

I do want to try mixing this with my True Match foundation, and will edit an update back into here to see if it works better for me like that. I think I’m feeling quite ‘meh’ about this one, and I probably wouldn’t repurchase it. You get 40ml for £4 which isn’t bad, but I strongly recommend keeping an eye out on fragrance direct as this is normally available.

Have you tried Shimmering Sands or any of the other colours?
Also is it just me or are cosmetics companys naming their products ridiculously long names all of a sudden? I love you rimmel but come on this is so long 0_o
